Barns Bulletin #18: March
Welcome to our monthly roundup of all things Freestyle: highlights of people, whereabouts and work happening at our Warwickshire HQ, the Barns.
Interview | with Rohini Chohan
I joined Freestyle as an Account Director, and it’s been fun so far. I’ve come from a background in digital working at a few creative, integrated and digital agencies, doing mostly build and campaign work within the automotive, games and entertainment industries.

My first 3 months at Freestyle flew by; I joined at a pretty good time, close to Christmas, so I joined in decorating the office Christmas trees, and then partied with our fabulous team at the Christmas party at Tolten Lodge! A great social season to get to know everyone!
The culture at Freestyle is holistic; the values, the people and the environment contribute to positive outcomes for all our clients as well as the individuals. It’s evident how hard people work and how passionate they are about what they do. Yet there’s none of that tense, stressed environment that you can easily fall into. People are really warm and easy going which makes life a lot easier when it comes to getting things done!
Why Freestyle?
What really drew me to Freestyle was the manifesto; I immediately felt “how could I not want to work here”. I particularly liked Freestyle’s straight up approach “the digital agency for non-sexy businesses” – say it like it is. This is what they offer and they’re not pretending to do any different because they do it so well!
The first week you start noticing a bunch of stuff… how valued employees are (and not just superficially); the flexible hours (they’re actually flexible, not just a thing listed as a benefit), Breadnesdays (fresh bread delivery on Wednesdays 😋) and the trust and maturity amongst the team to manage their own time and schedules, whilst ensuring they get the job done (which they do 😊). But I’ve particularly liked how courses, events and conferences are really encouraged within the agency, to ensure our collective knowledge is expanding. I'v been to 7 that I can think of already!

What’s your favourite part of your job?
I love problem solving. Often that can just be decrypting a client brief and identifying an approach to a solution. But it can also be a bit deeper, such as when I’ve worked with clients to identify as well as justify their problems internally. That helped them validate solutions that they know they need to their stakeholders.
What inspires you?
Honestly, the genuine need to solve. Advertising and marketing have historically not been as valued as they are today, and it’s great to be a part of this growth and change in the industry. With the growing knowledge we have on our audiences’ preferences and behaviours there’s so much more we can do and it’s a constantly growing industry.
Favourite quote or motto?
“The art of life lies in a constant readjustment to our surroundings.” This holds true in both my personal and professional life!

What are you looking forward to on this journey with the agency?
I’m looking forward to growing here as an individual, it’s early days but I see myself at Freestyle for a while and look forward to all the new doors I’ll get to open here, both in terms of the work itself as well as working alongside talented, smart and warm-hearted individuals.
