The Great British Postcard Awards Event

Celebrating British talent, awarding excellence

From Johnny Rotten and Lord John Bird to comedy post boxes and a pop-up poet, we closed the TGBPC campaign with a bang.

Strategy.

To provide an explosive ending to a highly engaging campaign, we organised a VIP awards evening.

The Great British Postcard Competition that we created for Saxoprint was a UGC campaign that went viral, making Channel 4 News and resulting in hundreds of entries. On a lively night at Camden’s Proud Gallery, the UK’s creative community came together to view the #TGBPC exhibition and enjoy a night of punkish entertainment

Lydon

Sex Pistols, PiL and Head Judge in TGBPC

"The standard of art was really high – Britain is a talented place! I was overwhelmed by some of it. It made my decision making process difficult, because I became so involved with each little postcard achievement."

The event.

Head Judge, John Lydon (a.k.a Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and PiL), announced the overall winning postcard to a packed house of designers, artists and journalists.

Helen Nodding’s creation, ‘End of the road’ was the Grand Prize Winner, claiming a £5,000 cheque in front of a 500+ audience.

The Freestyle team managed the entire event, from venue sourcing and exhibition curation, to liaising with press, performers and managing Mr Lydon – a full-time job in itself!

Results.

537

guests attended the event

"It was such a fun and engaging evening and a wonderful way to make art accessible. A huge thank you to Freestyle from us, for all your support of The Big Issue Foundation and for making the event a success."

Stephen Robertson, CEO, The Big Issue Foundation

We even made the national news.
